Commercial HVAC

Heating and cooling that keeps your business open.

York rooftop package unit installed on a commercial roof

When the AC quits in the middle of a Lodi summer, a business doesn’t just get uncomfortable. Customers leave, staff can’t work, and kitchens and equipment rooms overheat. AccuFlow Plumbing, Inc. provides commercial HVAC service under our C-20 HVAC license (CSLB #1025946) for light commercial buildings across Lodi, Acampo, Stockton, Galt and the surrounding area. We diagnose and repair rooftop units and split systems, replace equipment that has reached the end of its life, and keep it maintained on a schedule. We’re a local, family-owned contractor, so you deal with the same people every visit, and the same company can take care of the plumbing in your building.

Rooftop units, split systems and ductless

Most retail strips, offices and restaurants in the area are cooled and heated by rooftop package units (RTUs): one cabinet on the roof that holds the compressor, coils, blower and a gas heat section or heat pump, with ducts running down into the space. We troubleshoot and repair them, from failed capacitors, contactors and fan motors to refrigerant leaks, worn belts, dirty coils, gas valve and ignition problems, and economizers stuck open or closed.

Smaller offices, shops and converted buildings often run on split systems, with a condenser outside and a furnace or air handler inside. For spaces the main system doesn’t reach well, like a server room, a back office, a tasting room or a shop added onto a warehouse, a ductless mini-split adds heating and cooling without new ductwork.

Businesses we work with

We work on heating and cooling for offices, retail stores, restaurants, winery tasting rooms, convenience stores, shops and agricultural buildings. Each has its own problem: restaurant kitchens load up coils with grease and heat, tasting rooms need steady temperatures for guests and wine, and dusty ag and shop buildings clog filters and condenser coils fast. We set the service schedule around how hard your equipment actually works.

Signs your commercial system needs service

  • Warm or weak air from the supply vents
  • The unit runs nonstop, or turns on and off every few minutes
  • Ice on the refrigerant lines or the indoor coil
  • Water dripping from the ceiling near a unit or duct
  • Burning, electrical or musty smells when the system starts
  • Breakers tripping on the HVAC circuit
  • Some rooms or zones too hot while others are too cold
  • Utility bills climbing with no change in hours or use

Repair or replace?

A repair usually makes sense when the unit is in decent shape and the failed part is a capacitor, contactor, motor, igniter or control. Replacement starts to make more sense when a unit is near the end of its service life, needs a compressor or a coil, or keeps breaking down. Units still running on R-22 refrigerant are expensive to recharge because R-22 hasn’t been produced or imported in the U.S. since 2020, so a big refrigerant leak on an older unit often tips the decision.

When replacement is the right call, we size the new equipment to the building and plan the job ahead: rooftop swaps can need a crane lift and a curb adapter to fit the new unit to the old roof opening, and we pull the permit where one is required. We give you the options side by side, with a firm price for each, so you can plan the spend.

Scheduled maintenance for commercial systems

Commercial equipment runs longer hours than a home system, so it needs attention more often. We set up commercial HVAC maintenance on a schedule, usually twice a year (cooling in spring, heating in fall), or quarterly for restaurants and dusty buildings. Each visit covers filters, belts, coil cleaning, condensate drains and pans, electrical connections, capacitors and contactors, refrigerant pressures, economizer operation, the gas heat section and safety controls. Owners and managers get a written list of what we found, so repairs can be planned instead of discovered on the hottest day of the year. See HVAC maintenance for what a tune-up includes.

One call for heating, air and plumbing

Where we can, we schedule disruptive work like replacements before opening or after closing, and we check in with your manager when we arrive and before we leave. Because AccuFlow is licensed for plumbing, HVAC and general building work, the same team can handle the restrooms, water heaters, grease lines and gas piping in the building. What affects the cost of commercial HVAC work

  • Equipment type and size: rooftop package unit, split system or ductless, and its tonnage.
  • Access: roof access, crane lifts and curb adapters for rooftop replacements.
  • Age and refrigerant: older R-22 units cost more to recharge and parts can be harder to find.
  • Number of units and zones in the building.
  • Ductwork condition: leaks, damage or undersized ducts found during the job.
  • Permits and energy code requirements for replacements.
  • Scheduling: work done before or after business hours.

Estimates are free, and you approve a firm price before any work starts. For maintenance contracts, the price depends on how many units you have and how often they’re serviced.

It depends on the repair. A failed capacitor or motor on a solid unit is usually worth fixing. A large refrigerant leak on an older R-22 unit often isn’t, because R-22 is no longer produced and recharging it is expensive. We give you both prices so you can compare.
