A tankless water heater heats water only when you open a tap, so you never run out mid-shower and you stop paying to keep 50 gallons hot all day. The catch is that tankless units are far less forgiving of a sloppy install. Most gas models need a larger gas line than the old tank used, dedicated stainless or PVC venting and a condensate drain. Our valley water is hard, so we also install isolation valves for annual descaling; skip that and scale will shorten the heat exchanger's life.
